Catalog and search
Faceted shop pages, live search, category and tag archives, and a brand directory built to scale to thousands of brands.
Shoppers find products in seconds: results appear as they type, every listing can be narrowed with filters, and every filtered view has its own shareable address. The catalogue itself stays in WooCommerce — the storefront reads your products, categories, tags and brands exactly as they are.

What shoppers get
Section titled “What shoppers get”| Feature | What shoppers see |
|---|---|
| Shop listing | The whole catalogue in a grid or list, 12 products per page, with a live “Showing X–Y of Z results” count. |
| Toolbar | Show filters / Hide filters to open or tuck away the filter sidebar, a grid or list view switch, and 2, 3 or 4 columns in the grid — all kept in the URL. |
| Breadcrumbs | Every listing shows where the shopper is (Home › Category › Sub-category), and the same trail is published as structured data for search engines. |
| Filters | Category, brand, price range, minimum star rating, in stock and on sale. Active filters show as removable chips with Clear all; on phones the filters slide in from a drawer. |
| Sorting | Most popular, Newest, Price low to high, Price high to low, Best rated. |
| Live search | Matching products, with price and stock, appear under the header search box as the shopper types, with a match count and See all results. |
| Category-scoped search | An All Categories drop-down beside the search box limits a search to one category. |
| Category pages | A scrollable strip of sub-categories (busiest first, with thumbnails) above the product grid. |
| Categories browser | Every parent category as a card listing its sub-categories, at /categories — searchable (a match on a sub-category keeps its parent’s card) and sortable by most products, fewest products or A–Z. |
| Tag and brand pages | Every tag and every brand gets its own listing; brand pages show the brand’s logo and tagline. |
| Product cards | Price and sale price, discount badge, a “New” badge, stock hints such as “Only 3 left”, quick add to cart, wishlist heart, compare and quick view. |
| Quick view | Opens a product in a modal from any card, so shoppers can pick options and buy without leaving the page. |
| Shop banner | An optional image slider above the shop grid, each slide with one button. |
Shop, category, tag, brand and search pages share one consistent design, so a filter learned on one page works the same everywhere.
Brands
Section titled “Brands”The Shop by brand directory at /brands is built for large catalogues. Search, the A–Z rail, the category filter,
sorting (A–Z or most products) and paging (24 brands per page) all run on the server, so the page stays fast with
thousands of brands.
- Featured brands. A strip at the top shows up to 12 brands you tick as featured. If you feature none, it shows the three brands with the most products, so the strip is never empty. It appears on the default view only — no search, letter or category selected.
- Logo and tagline. A brand’s thumbnail image is its logo; its description becomes a one-line tagline.
- Category badge. Each brand shows its main category, worked out automatically from that brand’s products. The same value powers the directory’s category filter.
- Brand pages.
/brand/{slug}lists the brand’s products with the brand filter locked in place. - Header dropdown. The header builder offers a Brands element that lists your top brands with logos and a link to the full directory.
Only brands with at least one published product appear anywhere on the storefront.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”Filters, sort order, page and view all live in the address bar — for example /shop?brand=acme&rating=4&sale=1 — so
any view can be bookmarked, shared or linked from a campaign. Products, categories, tags and brands are read live from
WooCommerce; nothing is copied or indexed separately. Product photos are resized and served as AVIF or WebP
automatically, wherever they are hosted.
Shop, category, tag and brand pages are indexable, each with its own title and description (see SEO). The search results page is deliberately kept out of search engines.
Set it up
Section titled “Set it up”- Create categories, tags and brands in WooCommerce as usual. Category thumbnails appear in the sub-category strip.
- For brands, set a thumbnail (the logo) and a description (the tagline), and tick Featured brand on the ones to promote — see Products.
- To add a banner above the shop grid, switch on Shop-page banner and add slides — see Shop and product pages.
- Add the Brands, New or Sale shortcuts to the header with the header builder.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Brand pages need WooCommerce’s built-in Brands (WooCommerce 9.4 or newer) or a plugin that provides the same brand taxonomy. Without brands, the brand filter and directory simply do not appear.
- The header Brands dropdown shows at most 18 brands, whatever limit is set in the builder.
- Brand names that start with an accented letter are filed under # in the A–Z rail.
- Live search is a Capability: WooCommerce and Demo Mode both provide it.
