Shop and product pages

Set up the shop-page banner and control the product page's gallery, trust badges, Payment & Security card and product sections.

Two tabs in the Companion plugin’s settings shape the pages shoppers browse most. Shop page adds an image banner above the product grid. Product page controls everything around the product itself: the gallery layout, review uploads, the reassurance badges under “Buy now”, the Payment & Security card and the product rails further down the page.

  • You need an administrator account. Only administrators see the StoreFront menu.
  • The storefront must be connected to WordPress. See Connect the storefront.
  • Have your banner pictures in the Media Library, or ready to upload. Wide, short images suit the shop banner.
  • Every tab on the settings screen shares one Save Changes button, in the sticky header and at the foot of each tab. Nothing is stored until you press it.
  • Saved changes reach shoppers within about 5 minutes, because the storefront caches these settings briefly.

The shop-page banner is a short image slider above the product grid on /shop. Each slide is a picture with one button. There is no heading or body text, so the products stay in view.

StoreFrontSettingsShop page
  1. Go to StoreFront → Settings and choose Shop page in the rail.
  2. Switch on the toggle in the Shop-page banner card.
  3. In the Slides card, click Add image and choose a picture in the media picker (“Select banner image”).
  4. For each slide, fill in the Alt text, and optionally a Button link and Button label.
  5. Drag the rows to change the order. Use Replace image to swap a picture (its link and label are kept), or the trash button to remove a slide.
  6. Change Autoplay interval (ms) if five seconds per slide is too fast or too slow.
  7. Click Save Changes.
Setting What it does Default
Banner toggle Shows or hides the banner. It only appears when it is on and at least one slide exists. Off
Autoplay interval (ms) How long each slide stays on screen. The lowest accepted value is 1000; the field steps in 500s. 5000
Setting What it does Default
Picture The banner image. Required: a slide without a picture is dropped when you save. None
Alt text Describes the picture for screen readers and search engines. The image’s own alt text
Button link Where the slide’s button goes. The shop page
Button label Text on the button. Leave blank to use the storefront’s own “Shop now”, translated for each language. Blank

There is no limit on the number of slides and no aspect-ratio check. The banner is about half the height of the home-page hero, so a wide, short picture works best.

StoreFrontSettingsProduct page

The Product page tab is a column of cards, in this order: Gallery, Review photos & video, Review moderation, Require Cloudflare Turnstile, Trust badges, Payment & Security, then one card for each product section.

Chooses where the product image thumbnails sit.

Setting What it does Default
Thumbnails position Left puts the thumbnail strip beside the main image; Bottom puts it underneath. Left

Product videos added on the product edit screen appear in this same gallery. See Products.

Three cards on this tab control storefront reviews: whether shoppers can attach photos and clips, when a reported review is hidden automatically, and whether a review must pass Cloudflare Turnstile. Every field is explained in Reviews.

Five cards control the product rails below the main product area. Each card has a show/hide toggle. While a card is off its fields are hidden, but your values are kept.

Section What shoppers see Default title Default
Cross-sells Complementary products you link under Linked Products → Cross-sells, shown in the buy box. “Perfect match with” On, List layout
Upsells Better or pricier alternatives you link under Linked Products → Upsells. “You may also like” On
From The Brand More products from the same brand, best-selling first, with a link to the brand page. These are left out of Related products. “From The Brand” On
Related products Popular products from the same categories, picked automatically. “Related products” On
Recently viewed Products the shopper looked at earlier in this browser session. “Recently viewed” On

Each section card has these fields:

Setting What it does Default
Section toggle Shows or hides the section on every product page. On
Section title Replaces the heading. Leave blank to use the storefront’s default title, translated for each language. A title you type is shown exactly as typed in every language. Blank
Layout (Cross-sells only) List shows compact rows in the buy box; Cards shows a row of product cards. List

Trust badges and the Payment & Security card

Section titled “Trust badges and the Payment & Security card”

Two reassurance elements sit on every product page:

  • Trust badges: a row of up to three small icons with labels under the “Buy now” button.
  • Payment & Security: a card under the product gallery showing the payment methods you accept and a short note on how payments are handled.

You set each one for the whole store on this tab. A category or a single product can override it on its own edit screen.

  1. In the Trust badges card, choose a mode: Default, Custom or Off.
  2. For Custom, the list starts from what shoppers see today. For each badge, choose an Icon, type a Label and, if you like, add a Link.
  3. Use Add badge to add one (up to three). Drag the rows, or use Move up, Move down and Remove, to arrange them.
  4. Click Save Changes.
Mode What shoppers see
Default The storefront’s own three badges, translated for each language: “Secure payment”, “Free returns” and “14-day return policy”. Click Customize to copy them in as a custom list you can edit.
Custom Your own list of one to three badges, shown exactly as typed in every language.
Off No trust badges.

Fields on each custom badge:

Setting What it does Default
Icon The badge icon, chosen from a library of about 2,000 icons (the search shows up to 120 matches). Required. None
Label The badge text, up to 40 characters. Required. It is not translated. Blank
Link (optional) Makes the badge clickable. A store path such as /returns-refunds opens in the same tab; a full https:// address opens in a new tab. Blank

A badge without an icon or a label is removed when you save. A link that is neither a path starting with / nor a full http(s):// address is dropped. If you save Custom with no complete badge, the store falls back to Default.

Set the store-wide Payment & Security card

Section titled “Set the store-wide Payment & Security card”
Mode What shoppers see
Default The title “Payment & Security”, drawn card-brand badges (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Diners Club, Discover) and the text “Your payment information is processed securely. We do not store credit card details nor have access to your credit card information.” All translated.
Custom Your own title, image or text. Any part you leave blank shows the storefront’s own version.
Off No card.

Fields on a custom card (fill in at least one):

Setting What it does Default
Title The card heading, up to 60 characters. Blank uses the storefront’s translated title. Blank
Payment methods image One image of the payment methods you accept, used instead of the drawn card badges. Its alt text comes from the Media Library. None
Short description The text under the image, up to 300 characters. Blank uses the storefront’s translated text. Blank

If every field is empty, the store falls back to Default. A file that is not an image is removed.

Trust badges and the Payment & Security card can each be set at three levels. The most specific level that sets something wins.

Level Where you edit it Modes
Store (global) StoreFront → Settings → Product page Default, Custom, Off
Category Products → Categories, then edit a category Inherit, Custom, Off
Product Edit a product, Product data box, Trust badges and Payment & security tabs Inherit, Custom, Off

For each product, the storefront works it out like this:

  1. If the product is set to Custom or Off, that is what shoppers see.
  2. If the product is set to Inherit, the storefront looks at the product’s primary category. If that category is Custom or Off, it wins. If the category also inherits, its parent is checked, then the grandparent, nearest first.
  3. If every level above inherits, or the product has no category, the store-wide setting applies.

Example. The store-wide trust badges are Default. The Electronics category has a Custom list (“2-year warranty”, “Free returns”). Its subcategory Headphones inherits. One clearance product is set to Off.

Product Product setting Primary category What shoppers see
Cotton T-shirt Inherit Clothing (Inherit) The store-wide Default badges
Wireless earbuds Inherit Headphones (Inherit, parent Electronics) Electronics’ custom list
Smart TV Inherit Electronics (Custom) Electronics’ custom list
Clearance speaker Off Electronics (Custom) No badges
Gift card Inherit None The store-wide Default badges

A few rules worth knowing:

  • Each level replaces the whole setting. Nothing is merged between levels: a product’s custom list does not add to its category’s badges, it replaces them. The one exception is a blank field on a custom Payment & Security card, which shows the storefront’s own text for that part.
  • A store-wide Off means “off unless a category or product sets its own”, not “off everywhere”.
  • On category and product screens, Inherit is labelled with its source, such as Inherit (from Skincare) or Inherit (from global settings), and a Shoppers currently see preview shows the result.
  • Choosing Custom at a lower level starts from the inherited list or card, so you can adjust it rather than retype it.
  • A product’s primary category is chosen in the Primary category box on the product screen. See Products.
Symptom Likely cause Fix
The shop banner does not appear The toggle is off, or no slide has a picture. Switch it on, add at least one slide with an image, and save. Allow up to 5 minutes.
A product shows different badges from the rest of its category The product, or its primary category, has its own setting. Open the product’s Trust badges tab and check the “Primary category” line and the preview.
A product rail never appears Its card is switched off, or (for Cross-sells and Upsells) nothing is linked to that product. Switch the card on, or link products under Linked Products.
A section title stays in English on another language A typed title is shown as typed in every language. Leave the title blank to use the storefront’s translated default.
