Reviews
Product reviews with photos and video, verified-purchase badges, threaded seller replies, helpful votes and reports — moderated in the WooCommerce screens you already use.
Reviews are the social proof that turns a visitor into a buyer. On the storefront they become a full conversation: shoppers attach photos and short videos, other shoppers vote on what helped them, and your replies carry a Seller badge. Nothing goes live until you approve it, and you moderate it all in WooCommerce’s own Products → Reviews screen.
- Where it shows
- The Reviews tab and section on every product page
- Configure in
- StoreFront → Settings → Product page (media, moderation, Turnstile); Products → Reviews for moderation
- Requires

What shoppers get
Section titled “What shoppers get”| Feature | What shoppers see |
|---|---|
| Ratings summary | The average rating, the number of reviews and a breakdown by star. |
| Filters and sort | All, With photos, With video or a single star rating; sort by Most recent, Highest, Lowest or Most helpful; Load more for long lists. |
| Write a review | A star rating and text in a dialog. Guests add their name and email. Eligible buyers get a “Verified Purchase” mark with the order date. |
| Photos and video | Several photos and short clips per review, each with its own upload progress bar and video length, removable before posting. Posted media open in a lightbox. |
| Replies | Two levels of replies under each review. Your team’s replies carry a Seller badge; a shopper’s reply shows “Pending approval” to its author until you approve it. |
| Helpful votes | A Helpful button that each shopper can toggle once; the count is remembered across visits. |
| Report | A private report with a reason: spam, offensive, off-topic or other. |
How it works
Section titled “How it works”Storefront reviews are ordinary WooCommerce product reviews, so ratings, review counts and the “verified owner” logic all keep working. The Companion plugin adds media, replies, votes and reports on top.
- Moderation first. Every review and every shopper reply posted from the storefront arrives as Pending. The shopper is told their review is awaiting approval.
- Media uploads ahead of the review. Each photo or video uploads as soon as it is chosen, so the shopper sees progress and the review posts instantly. Uploads that are never attached to a posted review are deleted after a day.
- Your settings respected. If product reviews are switched off in WooCommerce, the form is refused. If WooCommerce allows reviews only from verified owners, other shoppers cannot post.
- Seller replies. Reply from wp-admin as you normally would. Replies from administrators and shop managers show the Seller badge.
- Reports. One shopper counts once, however often they press Report. You can have a review pulled back to Pending automatically when it reaches a number of reports.
- Bot protection. Cloudflare Turnstile can check the review form and guest replies.
Approved reviews also feed the product’s structured data, so ratings can appear in search results — see SEO.
Set it up
Section titled “Set it up”In StoreFront → Settings → Product page — see Reviews (admin):
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Review photos & video | Lets shoppers attach JPG, PNG or WebP photos and MP4, MOV or WebM clips. | On |
| Files per review | The most photos and videos on one review (1–10). | 6 |
| Largest photo (MB) | The largest photo allowed (1–10). | 10 |
| Largest video (MB) | The largest video allowed (1–500). | 50 |
| Hold after this many reports | Sends an approved review or reply back to Pending at this many reports; 0 means never. | 0 |
| Require Cloudflare Turnstile | Checks the review form and guest replies, once Turnstile is set up store-wide. | On |
Then moderate in Products → Reviews. The list gains Media, Helpful and Reports columns and a Reported view of everything shoppers flagged. On a review’s edit screen you can remove a single photo or video without deleting the review, and clear its reports once you have checked it.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Upload size limits are also capped by your server’s own upload limit, whatever the settings say.
- HEIC photos are not accepted; shoppers are asked for JPG, PNG or WebP.
- A file attached to a review that is still awaiting approval is not listed anywhere, but WordPress serves media files publicly, so its direct address would work.
- The home page’s “What Our Customers Are Saying” section is separate: hand-picked testimonials you write in wp-admin — see Home page.
