Store admin
Pages and content
Set up the Contact and FAQ pages, choose your policy pages, publish journal posts, and read contact-form messages in wp-admin.
The storefront’s informational pages get their words from different places. The Contact and FAQ pages and the five policy pages are managed from the Pages group of the Companion plugin’s settings. Journal articles are ordinary WordPress posts. The About us and Find a store pages are part of the storefront’s own configuration and are changed by whoever deploys it.

Storefront configuration (see Store identity) |
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You need an administrator account to open StoreFront → Settings.
- For a working contact form, install and activate the free Contact Form 7 plugin (Plugins → Add New, search “Contact Form 7”).
- To protect the contact form from bots, set up Cloudflare Turnstile first. See Sign-in and security.
- Settings on the Pages tabs share the screen’s single Save Changes button. Saved changes reach shoppers within about 5 minutes.
Set up the Contact page
Section titled “Set up the Contact page”The Contact page has a form on one side and an Information column on the other (address, support email, phone and opening hours). The form does not send email itself: each message is handed to a Contact Form 7 form you choose, and Contact Form 7 sends it using that form’s Mail settings (recipient, subject, template and any spam add-ons).
Step 1: prepare a Contact Form 7 form
Section titled “Step 1: prepare a Contact Form 7 form”-
Go to Contact → Contact Forms (the menu Contact Form 7 adds) and open the default form, or click Add New.
-
Make sure the Form tab contains these field names. The storefront fills them in:
[text* your-name][email* your-email][tel your-phone][text your-subject][textarea your-message]Contact Form 7’s default form has all of these except
your-phone. Add that line so phone numbers reach you. -
Open the Mail tab and set To to the address that should receive messages. Use the field names as mail-tags in the body, for example
[your-name],[your-email],[your-phone]and[your-message]. -
Save the form.
The storefront’s form has no subject field, so it sends “Contact form message from” followed by the sender’s
name as your-subject.
Step 2: connect it and fill in the page
Section titled “Step 2: connect it and fill in the page”- Go to StoreFront → Settings, open Pages in the rail and click Contact.
- In the Contact form card, choose your form under Form. Read any warning under the picker (see below).
- Choose which fields shoppers must fill in under Required fields.
- Fill in the Page text, Contact details and Working hours cards. Any text you leave blank uses the storefront’s own wording, so a half-filled tab still gives a complete page.
- Click Save Changes.
Contact form card
Section titled “Contact form card”| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Form | The Contact Form 7 form that receives contact-page messages. Lists up to 100 forms. With None, messages cannot be sent. | None |
| Required fields: Email | Always required, because replies go there. Cannot be switched off. | On |
| Required fields: Name | Whether a shopper must give their name. | On |
| Required fields: Phone | Whether a phone number is required. | On |
| Required fields: Message | Whether a message is required. | On |
The card checks the chosen form as you work and warns you when:
- the form has no
your-name,your-email,your-phoneoryour-messagefield, so that part of each message will not reach you; - the form requires a field the storefront never sends, so every message would fail;
- a field is optional on this tab but required in the form, so messages without it are rejected;
- the form you chose earlier no longer exists.
When Contact Form 7 is not active, the card shows only a warning, and the storefront shows a notice in place of the form. Your form choice and required-field switches are kept and come back when you reactivate it.
Require Cloudflare Turnstile
Section titled “Require Cloudflare Turnstile”| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Require Cloudflare Turnstile | Asks shoppers to pass the Turnstile check before a message is sent. Takes effect only while Turnstile is set up and switched on for the whole store. | On |
Page text
Section titled “Page text”| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Form heading | Heading above the form. | Blank (“Need help? Get in touch.”) |
| Information heading | Heading of the Information column. | Blank (“Information”) |
| Form intro | Line under the form heading. | Blank (“Contact one of our experts and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.”) |
| Information intro | Line under the Information heading. | Blank (“Our location, phone number & business hours—right at your fingertips.”) |
The text in brackets is the storefront’s own wording, used while the field is blank and translated for each language.
Contact details
Section titled “Contact details”| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Address | Shown under “Visit Us”. | Blank (the store profile’s address) |
| Support email | Shown under “Support” as a tap-to-email link. An invalid address is not saved. | Blank (the store profile’s email) |
| Phone | Shown under “Call Us” as a tap-to-call link. | Blank (the store profile’s phone) |
While a field is blank, the storefront shows the matching detail from its own store profile, which is set in the storefront’s configuration when it is deployed.
Working hours
Section titled “Working hours”One row per day, Monday to Sunday.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Open on (day) | Switches the day between Open and Closed. A closed day shows “Closed”. | Open |
| Opening time / closing time | Shown as “HH:MM – HH:MM”, in 24-hour time. | Blank |
An open day needs both times, otherwise it is left off the page. A closed day keeps its times for when you reopen it. If no day is filled in, the storefront shows the week from its own store profile instead. As soon as one day is filled in, your week replaces that profile week completely. A closing time earlier than the opening time is allowed, for overnight hours.
Read contact messages
Section titled “Read contact messages”Every message that passes Contact Form 7’s checks is also saved under StoreFront → Contact Entries, so you keep it even if the notification email fails. A count bubble on the menu shows how many are unread.
- Views: All, Unread, Starred and Trash. Unread rows are bold.
- Search across name, email, phone and message, and filter by date (Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, This month, Last month or a custom range) or, if you use more than one form, by form.
- Open an entry to read it in full. Opening it marks it read. The Actions box has Reply by email, Star, Mark as unread and Move to Trash. The Detail box shows when it arrived, which form, who sent it (a customer account or “Guest”), the IP address, the browser and the page it was sent from. Use ‹ Previous and Next › to move through the list.
- Bulk actions: Mark as read, Mark as unread, Star, Unstar and Move to Trash. In the Trash: Restore and Delete permanently.
- Export CSV downloads the current view, with your search and filters applied.
Entries in the Trash are deleted for good 30 days after they were trashed. Messages are recorded only while Contact Form 7 is active; other Contact Form 7 forms on your site are not recorded.
Write the FAQ page
Section titled “Write the FAQ page”The FAQ page shows exactly the questions you write here, grouped into optional titled sections. Until you save one, the page says there are no questions yet.
- Go to StoreFront → Settings → Pages → FAQ.
- Optionally type a Page title (leave blank for the translated “FAQ”).
- In FAQ sections, click + Add section and give it a Section title, such as “Orders & shipping”, or leave it blank for no heading.
- Click + Add question. Type the Question, then click Edit answer, write the answer and click Done.
- Use the arrows to reorder sections and questions, and Delete to remove one.
- Click Save Changes.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Page title | The FAQ page heading, its breadcrumb and the browser tab. | Blank (translated “FAQ”) |
| Section title | Heading above a group of questions. | Blank (no heading) |
| Question | The question line, up to 300 characters. | Blank |
| Answer | The answer, with bold, italic, bulleted and numbered lists, and links. Up to about 5,000 characters. | Blank |
Limits: up to 20 sections and 50 questions per section. A question without both a question and an answer is not saved (the card warns “Needs a question and an answer”), and a section with no complete question is dropped.
Choose your policy pages
Section titled “Choose your policy pages”You write each policy as a normal WordPress page in the block editor, then tell the storefront which page is which. The storefront shows the page’s content in its own design, with no copy kept on the storefront.
| Policy | Storefront address |
|---|---|
| Returns & Refunds | /returns-refunds |
| Shipping | /shipping-policy |
| Privacy Policy | /privacy-policy |
| Terms & Conditions | /terms-and-conditions |
| Cookies Policy | /cookies-policy |
- Go to Pages → Add New, write the policy and click Publish. Repeat for each policy you need.
- Go to StoreFront → Settings → Pages → Static Pages.
- For each policy, choose its page from the dropdown. Use Filter pages… to search when you have more than 10 pages.
- Click Save Changes.
- Use View on storefront next to each policy to check it.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Page for each policy | The published page shown at that policy’s address. Lists up to 500 pages, alphabetically. The same page cannot be used for two policies. | None (the storefront shows a 404) |
Links next to each policy: Edit page (opens the editor), View on storefront (only for a published page when the Storefront URL is set) and Create page.
- A policy with no published page shows a 404 on the storefront, and links to it are hidden in the header, footer and elsewhere.
- Only published pages without a password can be chosen. If you later unpublish, schedule or trash the page, the tab warns you and the storefront shows a 404 until it is published again.
- Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions are the same settings as WordPress’s privacy page (Settings → Privacy) and WooCommerce’s terms page (WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced). Changing either place updates both.
- Scripts and styles inside a page are stripped before it is shown on the storefront.
- Each policy page’s search text comes from the page’s own SEO fields, or the Policy pages pattern on the SEO tab. See SEO.
Publish journal articles
Section titled “Publish journal articles”The storefront’s Journal (/blog) shows your ordinary WordPress posts. There is nothing to switch on.
- Go to Posts → Add New and write the article in the block editor.
- Set a Featured image: it is the article’s picture on the Journal and when it is shared.
- Add an Excerpt if you want to control the summary on the article card.
- Choose Categories and Tags. Shoppers can filter the Journal by both, and by month.
- Fill in the article’s SEO fields if you want custom search-result text (see SEO).
- Click Publish.
- On the first page of the Journal, the newest article is shown large at the top.
- Each article page shows the author, reading time, tags, share buttons, links to the previous and next articles, and “More from the journal”.
- Shoppers must be signed in to comment. Comments appear under Comments in wp-admin, like any WordPress comment.
- Dates are shown in your store’s timezone (Settings → General → Timezone).
About us and Find a store
Section titled “About us and Find a store”These two pages are not edited in wp-admin. Their text, photos, team, timeline and store locations live in the storefront’s own configuration, alongside the store name and logo. Ask whoever deploys your storefront to change them, and point them to Store identity.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The Contact page shows a notice instead of a form | Contact Form 7 is not active, or no form is chosen. | Activate Contact Form 7 and pick a form on the Contact tab. |
| Every contact message fails | The Contact Form 7 form requires a field the storefront doesn’t send. | Read the warning under Form and make that field optional or remove it. |
| Messages arrive without a phone number | The form has no your-phone field. |
Add [tel your-phone] to the form and [your-phone] to its Mail tab. |
| Messages are saved in Contact Entries but no email arrives | Contact Form 7’s mail could not be sent. | Check the form’s Mail tab and your site’s email setup. See Emails. |
| A policy page shows “page not found” | No page is chosen, or the page is not published. | Pick a published page on the Static Pages tab. |
| The FAQ page says there are no questions yet | No section with a complete question has been saved. | Add a question and an answer, then save. |
